About the project

WCO is a site of original articles and features about sport. The name comes from the domain: WCO can be read as World Cup Online, but we are not tied to a single tournament or a single sport.

What we write about

Seven sports, each with its own section:

• football;
• ice hockey;
• basketball;
• tennis;
• combat sports;
• cricket;
• kabaddi.

Cricket and kabaddi are rarely written about in Russian. We cover them in as much detail as football and ice hockey: rules, tournaments, history.

What is here and what is not

Here you will find articles and features: analyses, explanations of rules and formats, the history of tournaments and teams, and the context of events. We do not run a news feed, live streams, match results or league tables — for those, it is better to go to the websites of leagues and federations.

How we work with facts

• Every figure, date and score in an article is taken from a source. A list of sources appears at the end of every piece.
• We rely primarily on primary sources: the websites of federations, leagues, tournaments and clubs, and official records.
• If a fact cannot be confirmed, we do not write it.
• The texts are our own: we do not reprint other people’s material.

Corrections

If you find an error in an article, write to us via the form on the ‘Contacts’ page. We will check and correct the text, and you will see the date of the update at the top of the piece.
